This section is a compilation of 365 days of memory of Civil Rights/Freedom Rights Movement history. This is 100% a series of curated content - I did not write anything other than titles and some captions. I have attempted to attribute all writing and all photos. I concluded this initial year of collection on May 31, 2021, but intend to continue posting via Twitter and adding to this periodically - but taking a break for the next couple months!
Purpose
On June 1, 2020, in part as a response prompted by the George Floyd murder and subsequent re-awakening of the general public to the history of racist struggles, I started a daily practice of finding a relevant moment in Freedom Rights Movement anniversary history. I've found this both personally cathartic – engaging in daily consciousness of the ongoing struggle over the past 400 years – as well as potentially useful for future students.
